The prompt

“If you made one rule about how loud toy noises are allowed to be at the dinner table, what would it be?”

What to listen for

If they propose a reasonable rule (quiet toys only, or no toys until after dinner), that shows they're already thinking about other people's comfort, not just their own fun, worth naming out loud. If their rule mostly protects their own noisy play, that's typical and just an opening to gently ask how it feels from someone else's side of the table.

Notice if they mention wanting dinner to feel calm or connected versus just wanting rules to be clear, the first hints they crave a peaceful shared space, the second hints they crave predictability.

If they say "I don't know," ask what noise at dinner bugs them the most, and build the rule from there.
