If they can point to something specific, they feel genuinely understood by you in that moment, not just managed or supervised, a real sign of trust between you.

If they hesitate or can't think of one, don't panic, just take it as useful information that connection has felt thin lately, and let that guide you toward more moments like this one.

A joking answer, like naming something silly you agreed on, still counts as real connection, don't discount it just because it's light.
