What to listen for

A specific moment, on a field, in a group, alone with music, tells you where they feel safe enough to drop the performance; they need more of whatever that setting gives them.

If they can't think of one right away, that's worth sitting with gently rather than rushing to reassure, they need to know it's okay if confidence still feels rare right now.

If they describe confidence tied to being around a certain person, that relationship is doing real work for them, it's worth quietly appreciating, not analyzing out loud.
