What to listen for

A confident, specific answer (like 'a cheetah because I love running and I'm fast to decide things') shows a clear, growing sense of self. Celebrate the reasoning, not just the animal.

If they pick an animal because it's cute or popular rather than because it's 'them,' gently ask what about their own personality it reminds them of.

If they're stuck, offer a couple of playful options based on things you've noticed about them.
