Tonight with your 5 to 8 year old
The prompt
“What does feeling loved actually feel like for you, like, how do you just know it?”
What to listen for
If they describe physical closeness, being listened to, or spending time together, they're naming exactly what fills them up, pay close attention, because this is basically them telling you their love language out loud.
If they describe it through actions, like someone helping them or remembering something they like, that shows they feel loved through care and attention more than words, which is worth remembering for how you show up for them.
If they say "I don't know," ask them to think of a moment this week when they felt really loved, and work backward from there.
What this tells you
This is one of the clearest windows you'll get into exactly how they receive love best.
