Tonight with your 5 to 8 year old
The prompt
“If you got to give everyone in the family a special job for one whole day, what job would you give each person?”
What to listen for
If they assign roles that fit each person's real strengths, that thoughtful casting shows they really pay attention to who everyone in the family actually is.
If they give themselves the most fun or important job, that's normal and healthy, it shows they see themselves as a leader worth taking seriously too.
If they struggle to assign jobs, start with their own job first, then work outward to the rest of the family.
What this tells you
The jobs they assign show how well they see and value each family member's unique role, including their own.
