An easy, enthusiastic answer here is a teen relaxing into pure fun with you, no performance needed, just shared delight. Laugh with them, don't analyze the joke.

If they mention something you don't get or find odd, resist making a face about it, humor is deeply personal at this age and being mocked for what makes them laugh stings more than it seems like it should.

If they can't pin one down, ask for an example instead of a category, sometimes it's easier to point at a memory than describe a type.
