The prompt

“Tell me about a time being patient was really hard but it ended up being worth it.”

What to listen for

If they can recall a real example and connect the waiting to a good outcome, that shows they're building trust that good things can come after discomfort, a really valuable belief to reinforce out loud. If they say patience is always just hard with no payoff, gently offer a small example from their own life to help them see the connection.

If they can't think of one, that's completely fine at this age, patience is genuinely one of the hardest skills to build, and the goal tonight is just planting the idea, not perfecting it.

Notice their tone: if they sound proud telling the story, they've internalized it as a personal win, not just something they were told to do.
