What to listen for

A thoughtful answer here is them essentially telling you how to keep their trust intact during disagreement, usually they're asking for calm, for being heard before being corrected, which is really a request to feel respected even when you don't approve. Take this seriously as real guidance, not just a hypothetical.

If they mention wanting you to just listen first before reacting, that's a completely reasonable and common ask, it doesn't mean they expect you to agree with everything, just that they want to be heard.

If they seem unsure or say "however you'd normally react," that might be a gentle signal that reactions in the past have felt unpredictable, worth reflecting on quietly rather than asking them to elaborate on the spot.
