If they describe it fondly, even while poking fun, they feel a sense of belonging in the family's particular flavor of weird, a sign the family culture feels like home, not something to escape.

If they describe it as embarrassing without warmth, that might just be typical teen self-consciousness rather than real rejection, notice the tone more than the words.

A detailed, specific answer ("we do this thing where...") shows they've absorbed the family's inside jokes as part of their own identity.
