Tonight with your 13 to 17 year old
The prompt
“If you could design your ideal weekend from scratch, what would you actually want to do?”
What to listen for
If they describe something vivid and specific, they have a clear sense of what genuinely recharges them, which shows self-knowledge worth respecting rather than filling their time for them.
If they say "just nothing, no plans," that's a valid and often deeply needed answer, rest is its own legitimate want, not laziness to be corrected.
If their ideal weekend includes you, let that land warmly without over-celebrating it, just quietly note it as something to make happen.
What this tells you
Their ideal weekend shows you what actually fills them up right now, which may be different than what you'd assume.
