What to listen for

Notice what draws them to it, is it the scenery, the pace of life, being near or far from people they know? That detail tells you what kind of life they're imagining for themselves beyond just a location on a map.

If they get animated describing it, let them run with the daydream instead of steering it toward practicality, the value here is in the wanting, not the planning.

If they say "nowhere really," that's fine, you could ask what they'd want more of, wherever they end up, as a softer version of the same question.
