What to listen for

Listen for whether the answer centers on people, novelty, freedom, or accomplishment, that tells you what ingredient is currently missing or present in their day-to-day life, beyond just "good" or "bad" days.

If they describe something surprisingly simple, that's worth noting, it means joy doesn't require a big production for them, which is useful to know when planning family time too.

If they say most days just feel fine, that's not necessarily bad, but it's worth gently keeping in mind as you think about what to build more of into their week.
