What to listen for

If they share it readily, it means they feel genuinely proud of that choice and want you to know about it, celebrate it plainly, without turning it into a bigger lesson than it needs to be.

If they mention it was tempting to take the easy way, that honesty about temptation is more valuable than a story where it sounded easy, real integrity includes the pull toward the easier path.

If nothing comes to mind, don't worry, you can ask again some other night; this isn't a test they need to pass tonight.
