Tonight with your 5 to 8 year old
The prompt
“What's a way you show someone you care about them without using any words?”
What to listen for
If they describe an action, like sharing or hugging, they already have a real, physical language for love that doesn't rely only on saying it out loud.
If they mention doing something for a specific person, that's them showing you exactly who they feel closest to caring for right now.
If they say "I don't know," ask them to show you instead of tell you, sometimes acting it out unlocks what words can't.
What this tells you
How they show care without words reveals their natural, instinctive way of expressing love, which is worth noticing and naming back to them.
