What to listen for

A specific answer (the dark, a new class, diving in the pool) shows real self-awareness about their own edges. Ask what the smallest possible brave step might look like.

If they say 'nothing,' they might already feel confident, or the question might feel too big, you can offer something you've noticed they hesitate on.

Whatever they name, avoid promising to 'fix' it tonight; just knowing it matters to them is the win.
