If they build something wild and detailed, like blindfolded pillow racing, that imagination shows they feel free to dream big without worrying about a right answer.

If they base it on something they're already good at, that's them quietly connecting their real skills to a bigger dream, which is worth noticing out loud.

If they blank, ask what two things they love most and how they could combine them into a game.
