What to listen for

If they connect curiosity to understanding someone better, like asking why a classmate felt left out, that shows empathy is growing right alongside their natural curiosity.

If they mention learning about an animal or a person's situation that made them care more, that's them building a bigger, more compassionate view of the world.

If they can't think of one, ask what they've learned recently that made them see someone differently.
