If they can name something real they learned, resilience, humor, that people cared more about them than the mistake, that reframing is huge and deserves to be celebrated loudly.

If the memory still stings when they talk about it, don't rush them past the discomfort, they need to feel the embarrassment was real before hearing any silver lining.

If they say they've never really failed publicly, or avoid the topic, that avoidance itself is worth noting gently, some fear of public failure might be driving choices they haven't named yet.
