What to listen for

A silly rule (like 'ice cream before dinner') shows healthy imagination and testing limits in a safe, playful way. Laugh with them and ask why that rule matters to them.

A rule about fairness ('everyone has to share the remote equally') can reveal something they wish were different right now. Worth a gentle follow-up about what's bugging them.

If they invent a rule that sounds like more freedom or less structure, that's normal, it doesn't mean they don't want boundaries, just that they like imagining control.
