Tonight with your 5 to 8 year old
The prompt
“If you got to design the perfect weekend from morning to night, walk me through it.”
What to listen for
If they include people throughout the day, not just activities, connection is clearly a big part of what makes a day feel good to them, not just fun on its own.
If they build in quiet alone moments too, that's a healthy sign they know they need both togetherness and their own space to feel their best.
If they get stuck, ask "okay, what happens right when you wake up?" and build it minute by minute, sequencing it out loud often unlocks more detail.
What this tells you
The shape of their ideal day shows the balance they're craving between time with people and time to just be themselves.
