Tonight with your 13 to 17 year old
The prompt
“Is there a conversation with a grandparent or older relative you wish you could have again?”
What to listen for
If they recall something specific, a story, a piece of advice, just a feeling of being with them, they value connection across generations and want to feel rooted in something bigger than their own moment.
If there's a note of regret, like wishing they'd asked more or listened closer, let that sit without rushing to console, it's a sign of real reflection, not something to fix.
A "not really, I don't think about it much" is fine, the invitation to think about it is enough for one night.
What this tells you
Whatever memory surfaces shows you who they feel truly saw them, and how much they crave that kind of unhurried attention.
