What to listen for
A thoughtful yes, especially with details about what shifted their thinking, shows real emotional maturity, the ability to hold their own position and still make room for someone else's being valid too.
If they say it's hard to admit in the moment even when they know it, that's honest and common, you can validate that without pushing them to always concede right away.
If they say no, not really, that might just mean they haven't had a conflict big enough to test it yet, not that they're incapable of it.
What this tells you
Their ability to hold two sides of an argument in mind shows how secure they feel in their own view, since it takes confidence to admit someone else might be right too.
