A laughing, honest yes shows a really healthy relationship with the family, they can hold two feelings at once, embarrassment and pride, without either one canceling the other out.

If they describe the specific moment, enjoy it together rather than getting defensive about whatever the embarrassing part was, the pride underneath is the real gift here.

If they say no, never embarrassed, that's lovely too, though slightly rare, either way, there's no wrong answer to receive warmly.
