If they describe doing something consistently even when they don't feel like it, they're showing real understanding that responsibility means following through, not just doing things when it's easy or fun.

If they describe it more as "not getting in trouble," that's a good moment to gently reframe it as taking care of something because it matters, not just to avoid consequences, this helps responsibility feel meaningful rather than just a rule.

If they say "I don't know," bring up a specific chore or pet task they already do to make it concrete.
