If they mention specific gestures, like hugs, jokes, or a certain way you say goodnight, that shows they've absorbed your family's own language of love and can recognize it as special.

If they compare it to a friend's family, listen without getting defensive, kids often notice differences without any judgment attached, they're just observing.

If they say all families are the same, ask what your family does before bed or in the morning that feels like "just us."
