Tonight with your 5 to 8 year old
The prompt
“Was there a time you felt really embarrassed, and how did you get through it?”
What to listen for
If they can describe both the feeling and how they recovered, that shows real resilience building. Praise the getting-through-it part specifically, not just the story.
If the memory still stings, let them know embarrassing moments happen to everyone, including you, share one of yours to normalize it.
If they can't think of one, that's fine; you can gently mention a moment you noticed and ask how it felt.
What this tells you
How they recovered from embarrassment shows you how resilient they're becoming when things feel awkward or hard.
