Tonight with your 5 to 8 year old
The prompt
“What's your favorite way to say good morning to me or to the family?”
What to listen for
If they describe something physical and warm, like a jump-hug or a silly greeting, they're telling you that starting the day connected to you matters a lot to how their whole day feels.
If they invent something new on the spot, they may be asking, without quite saying it, for a small daily ritual that's guaranteed and predictable no matter what else is going on.
If they shrug, suggest one yourself and watch their reaction, sometimes they need to see it modeled before they can claim it as theirs.
What this tells you
Their answer shows how much they lean on small daily rituals with you to feel grounded before the day even starts.
