If they explain their reasoning clearly, like it's more fun or takes less time, they're showing they think chores through fairly rather than just complaining about them.

If they seem to feel like they always get the worse job, that's worth taking seriously, it might be a real, fixable issue about fairness at home worth revisiting together.

If they say "I don't know," ask which chore feels most annoying right now, chore-trading aside.
