Tonight with your 5 to 8 year old
The prompt
“If you had your very own theme song that played whenever you walked into a room, what would it sound like?”
What to listen for
If they describe something bold and upbeat, they see themselves as someone who shows up with energy and confidence, which is a great, healthy self-image.
If they describe something calm or funny instead, that's just as valid, it shows how they experience their own presence, whether steady or playful.
If they say "I don't know," ask them to hum or clap a rhythm instead of describing it in words, sometimes sound is easier than explanation.
What this tells you
The theme song they imagine for themselves shows how they currently picture their own presence in a room, full of energy or quietly steady.
