What to listen for

If they choose something creative or imaginative, like drawing or building, they're showing a healthy comfort with their own inner world and enjoying their own company.

If they say they'd actually want you nearby even during "alone" time, that's worth noting warmly, it shows they associate feeling relaxed with having you close, even without needing constant interaction.

If they say "I don't know," ask what they did the last time they had free time like that.
